Empathy in Action

Innovative Training that

Increases Belonging

Empathy isn't just a skill- it's a superpower.

It turns out, there’s no magic formula for success, but there is a proven approach. This interactive workshop is designed to help college students develop the empathy, leadership skills, and mindset they need to not just succeed academically but also thrive personally and socially.

Imagine leaving this session with practical strategies to build stronger connections, foster inclusivity, and create a campus environment where everyone feels valued and supported. That’s the power of turning empathy into action and purpose into practice.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the value of empathy in leadership and decision-making.

  • Practice techniques to actively listen and connect with others.

  • Develop strategies to handle tough conversations with care and clarity.

  • Develop an impact statement to clarify commitment to inclusion (Optional for proffesional audience).

Dar's authenticity and public commitment to fostering a diverse community and a culture of inclusivity was a strength of the leadership session. This allowed me to reflect on the significance of my role in higher education leadership. The leadership session emphasized creating a clear and succinct impact statement, which I found to be empowering. An impact statement that focuses on the people we help, and well as the outcomes and benefits for students can be used to articulate the value of our department and program as it relates to the human services industry.

Each student was really seen and heard. Dr. Dar shared how he went from a really dark place and overcame that. A lot of our students have gone through hardships and having them see how they can come through that, was a great example. Run to the website and go ahead and sign up for a workshop or presentation. He’s excellent. You’ll definitely gain something whether you’re a student or a professional.

This session challenged me to think deeper about what I want. My son is with me today. I initially asked him to sit outside, but when I heard Dr. Mayweather's intro, I knew my son needed to be included. The session got me to thinking about possible tools to use.
